Village Upkeep

Litter-pick Activity

CSEG, in conjunction with the Keep Wales Tidy organisation, has organised a number of litter-picks in and around the village, including one in Fedw Wood.

While Keep Wales Tidy, through the efforts and enthusiasm of Rachel Palmer, their project officer for South Powys, provides bags, mechanical litter-pickers and protective equipment, CSEG and other residents of Cwmdu provide the volunteers.

The litter-picks take place on a twice yearly basis. Normally the Group manages to collect around a dozen sacks of litter from the roadsides as well as the Village Hall car-park (where a lot of unwanted items are dumped around the recycling site). Although there is surprising enthusiasm for this particular activity, new volunteers are always welcome!

The photographs below (the top one taken in November 2012 by the Group's newest recruit, Catherine Morfett) show CSEG members in action.

Unfortunately, the Autumn 2013 village litter-pick had to be postponed because of bad weather and the non-arrival of kit. CSEG now has it's own litter-picking equipment (most of the cost met by a generous grant from Keep Wales Tidy).

The next litter-pick is scheduled for Saturday 1st February (weather permitting) at 10.00 a.m. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Village Hall Car Park.
